Water Will Go Where it believes it is Supposed to go
Lately, I have been thinking about the concept of when a challenge is an opportunity. Or to use the cliche when a door closes a window opens. I do have a self-imposed boundary on this concept in that for me, it will not apply to tragic events. I do not believe that when really bad things happen- they are supposed to happen. I am okay if this is not in line with what others believe. For issues that are perceived as challenges, annoyances, or problems, it has been my experience that they happen so that different sometimes better things can take their place. A simple example for me was a change in the people who call The Wellness Cottage- the physical location of my business- their business home. While the idea that folks moving out initially created discomfort for me, it has ended up being the best thing to ever happen to my business and that of The Wellness Cottage. This change opened the door of opportunity for new things which have turned out to be better things for me. From discomfort came profound gratitude and peace.
This morning my life coach gave me her impression of my growth over the past year. Her comment was ” Kim, I see you delighting in the world you are in and in the one you are creating”. She went on to say that the Kim of last year was “up in her head” trying to make sense of other people’s actions. Water will flow where it believes it is supposed to flow. This concept is meaningful to me because it helps me make peace not trying to understand or make sense of the behaviors of others. Imagine yourself standing at the edge of the water on an expansive beach, is there anything you can do to stop the water’s flow? If you put a large boulder in the water, will that stop the water? Even if you try to stop the water, it will simply find a new path- it will flow where it perceives it is supposed to flow.
2024 is bringing exciting new things for me. I am birthing a new business with a new business partner. I am beyond excited and know it is my next right step. All of the steps we have both taken to date have led to this creation. If we delight in the world we are living in and delight in the world we are creating the results will be nothing short of incredible.
For those who celebrate upcoming holidays, may you find delight and peace.
Kim
