These are a A Few of My Favorite Things

Hi Friends, this is a lighter blog for you.

Months ago one of my lovely clients suggested that I post a list of some of my favorite things. Here it is.

The first meal of the day-  I practice digestive rest also known as intermittent fasting. I have a 15-hour digestive rest during the week and a little longer on the weekend. My first meal is my most important meal and is high in protein, has plenty of healthy fat, and moderate carbohydrates. My limited repertoire of breakfast meals includes;

Siggi’s plain whole milk yogurt with fruit, nuts, and seeds- I aim for north of 25 grams of protein.

Good Culture Cottage Cheese (https://www.goodculture.com/) with fruit, nuts, and seeds.

Overnight Oats-Overnight Oats– ½ cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of liquid- can be plain whole milk Kefir milk or kefir and whole milk plain Greek or Icelandic yogurt, 1 cup of frozen berries. Mix in a mason jar and put in the fridge for the night. Could even add a few prunes to this for additional fiber and help with elimination.

Ezekiel English Muffin with lots of just peanuts -peanut butter. (https://www.foodforlife.com/products/english-muffins) and sometimes a banana. This is a portable easy breakfast.

If I am home I eat eggs, vegetables, and toast or my favorite egg in a hole made with 2 eggs.

Lunch– all kinds of greens, vegetables, cooked chicken, nuts, sometimes some blue or feta cheese, and a balsamic dressing. I do have a carb at lunch such as gluten-free crackers or whole grain bread. If there are leftovers from dinner the night before, this might be lunch or if I need a quicker less messy lunch- I love a turkey and cheese sandwich with all the fixings- avocado, tomato, lettuce.

Snacks– in general, I do not snack. But, if I work late and won’t have dinner until after 7 pm, I eat a late afternoons snack such as apple and peanut butter or nuts and grapes (protein and fruit).

Nutrition/Supplements– I carry a nutraceutical supplement line in my practice so the majority of what I take is from this line. Here is what I take:

Daily Essentials– isotonic powdered daily broad-spectrum multivitamin mineral that includes activated vitamin B complex, 1500 IU of vitamin D, 426 mg of calcium, and a blend of antioxidants.

Co-Enzyme Q 10, 3000 mg Omega 3 fatty acids (Fish Oil), probiotics, and magnesium (citrate and glycinate)

From other lines, I take Cholestoff, Red Yeast Rice, and Viviscal for hair growth.

Self- Care

Calm– this is a fantastic app. I have a paid subscription. Every morning I listen to “The Daily Jay” which is 7 minutes and I pick another “episode” for a guided meditation. What I have noticed after doing this practice ( and it is a practice) for 5 years is that I like myself and my reaction to the world around me a whole lot better. It is $69.99 for the year or $14.99 per month.

Skin– Here are some of the skincare products I am currently using.

Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil https://www.burtsbees.com/product/cleansing-oil/- first wash to remove my makeup

LA ROCHE-POSAY Hydrating gentle cleanser https://www.laroche-posay.us/our-products/face/face-wash/toleriane-hydrating-gentle-facial-cleanser-tolerianehydratinggentlefacialcleanser.html- second wash for cleansing.

PCA skin C&E advanced- this is a vitamin C and e serum to be used twice daily before moisturizer -https://www.pcaskin.com. This is a more expensive item recommended by my skincare professional.

A313- Retinoid – Just at night -French Pharmacy- link below

Moisturizers- Embryolisse Lait-Crem Concentre – French Pharmacy – link below

Elf Super Hydrate https://www.elfcosmetics.com. This is a gel and great in warmer weather and layering with sunscreen and foundation or BB cream.

I add in  these extra moisturizers and repair cream as needed:

Burt’s Bees Facial oil- love this, especially in colder months -https://www.burtsbees.com/product/facial-oil-with-rosehip-seed-extract/

BIAFINE- an iconic French emulsion. I use it on my face as it helps calm redness and I use it on any cut or scrape as it has healing properties. French Pharmacy- https://frenchpharmacy.com/

Deodorant– Necessaire – the deodorant gel. AMAZING. LOVE It. Switched Michael and me to this in January. It works incredibly well, and keeps us smelling shower fresh even through a workout. It is mess-free and non-sticky. No Aluminum. No Baking Soda. No Parabens. No PEGs. No Synthetic Fragrance. I buy the Eucalyptus and sandalwood fragrance. It is $15 for one bottle but it will last at least three months.

Hair fun-  two loved tools for doing my blow outs- they definitely fall into the “treat” category.

L’ange Le Volume brush dryer  https://langehair.com/collections/hot-brush- I let my hair air dry and then use this instead of a round brush and a dryer- saves me time and puts volume in the hair.

Tymo Air flow- this is a combo curling iron and flat iron with a cool air fan that helps hold the style. This is a great and easy to use tool. https://tymobeauty.com/collections/hair-curler/products/tymo-airflow

Apparel – Have you heard of OOFOS-https://www.oofos.com/pages/our-technology. Best sandals ever. Made with proprietary OOfoam™ technology, OOFOS absorb 37% more impact than traditional foam footwear materials for the perfect blend of cushion and stability. So walking is easier. Recovery is faster.
